VIDEO: Contract Employment Trends

WinterWyman Contract Staffing's Partner Melanie Kilsey, explains her thoughts on why employers prefer hiring contract or temporary employees. Watch how she discusses trends on both in recession and in recovery.

When coming out of a recession, employers are not sure of the kind of support they will need in the upcoming year. Hiring temporary and contract employees help employers build up their staff and can eventually become permanent employees. Even if you don't get permanently hired, it is a good resume-builder.  WinterWyman's contract staffers have years of experience placing qualified employees in exciting contract positions, many of which turn into full-time jobs after the contract term expires.  Melanie's insight into contract staffing comes from her years of work in the industry, and her advice can help any employee find a contract position that suits them adeptly.

WinterWyman has been around 40 years. So we've been through a number of recessions, and typically coming out, temporary and temp-to-perm hiring is initially very popular because people are building their staffs back. They're not really sure what's coming next in terms of their business and what they need to support that. But outside of just coming out of a recession, temp and temp-to-perm hiring for financial contracting has become very popular. We have more contractors working for us now than we ever have in the history of the company, whether you just look at WinterWyman financial contracting as one group or contracting in general for WinterWyman. So it's an exciting time for us and an exciting time for the trend of consulting and temp-to-perm hiring.
